A Kingdom of Bones

Six centuries ago, the Nine Counties wagered their souls against the Old Gods — and lost. The dice were sealed in the deepest vault. Then someone broke the seal.

There is a legend, whispered by torchlight in the broken keeps of Vale, that fortune itself was once a prisoner. Caged in twenty-sided iron, hidden in the bowels of Mount Hollow. Six centuries it slept. Then, in the dead of winter, the seal cracked.

Now the dungeons stir. The dead remember the names of the living. Old hexes leak through the stone like smoke. And four travelers — a witch, a knight, a thief, and a priest who has forgotten his god — must descend together.

Strike with steel or sorcery. 1d20 + bonus against the foe's AC. A natural 20 is a critical — and the dungeon takes notice.

Roll for Damage

Each weapon and spell carries its own dice — 2d6 for a longsword, 3d8 for a fireball. Modifiers stack with stat and curse alike.

Armor & Resistance

Plate turns aside the blade. Wards turn aside the flame. Two layers — AC for the body, MR for the soul.

The Last Roll

When you fall, the dungeon offers one final wager. Roll to rise, or roll to rest. Permadeath is not a punishment — it is a consequence with witnesses.

Mira's older sister Senna was killed by a man the courts could not touch — his cousin sat the bench. The Ashwell family went to the thing in the Hollowmere well, and Mira traded her surname for one spell, cast once, on Halver Crale.

The hex did not unravel after the kill. She has been Mira Ashwhisper for nine years, and she suspects the thing in the well winters in the Crypt. She is going down to ask for a refund.
